Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy
Buckeye Physical Medicine & Rehab provides many types of non-invasive pain relief procedures in order to eliminate discomford without recovery time, allowing patients to get back to doing what they love as soon as possible.
At Buckeye Physical Medicine & Rehab, Cold Laser Therapy is one of these great non-invasive treatments that we use to alleviate pain and stimulate healing in our patients. Many people find that they experience immediate results after a short laser therapy session.
How It Works
Using infrared lasers with a controlled and adjustable power output of over 500 milliwatts, cold (or class IV) laser therapy penetrates the affected tissues, such as muscles, ligaments, and bones.
When the laser penetrates the tissue, this causes a chain of events that lead to the production of adenosine triphosphate, which the cells use for energy. This photochemical reaction results in an increase in the cellular metabolism rate which expedites cell repair and the stimulation of several systems: the immune, lymphatic and vascular.
This stimulation of the cells enhances healing, improve nerve function, increase vascular activity, reduce pain and reduce inflammation. The entire process is relatively quick, taking only 5-25 minutes per session.
Cold Laser Therapy has proven to be effective for many conditions including:
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Disc Herniations or Bulges
- Spinal Stenosis
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
